Abstract
The Royal Military College of Science (RMCS) at Shrivenham is the Technical Staff College for the armies of Great Britain, Australia and Canada. Student at the college are required to demonstrate fundamental DSP concepts such as sampling, filtering, correlation and Fourier analysis. The MATLAB package has been used at RMCS to assist with such demonstrations. Signals are simulated and combined with noise to provide the input to simple processing schemes which serve as demonstration vehicles for a class. By providing the students with copies of the demonstration M-files, they are able to run and modify the system at their own pace after the session. Tutorial questions can serve to direct the student to investigate different aspects of the system, what happens if the sampled data is windowed prior to FFT analysis for example. At RMCS, MATLAB is provided on a VAX-based college network
