  • Abstract
    A transputer-based fully digital adaptive control system is developed for high-performance AC induction motor drives. A vector control scheme with software current regulation is employed to perform fast response torque control of an AC induction motor and an estimation model representing the drive dynamics is derived for the adaptive control system. The estimation is carried out with the help of the recursive least squares algorithm and a pole-assignment procedure provides a way to the speed controller adaptation. The resulting adaptive controller is implemented in real time by using a multi-transputer parallel processing system. Experimental results show that the proposed adaptive control system maintains the desired performance in the presence of varying load and disturbance
