Abstract :
We have explored the two combinations of tristate antiferroelectric liquid crystal on silicon, and thresholdless antiferroelectric (or V-shaped) liquid crystal on silicon. The primary aim of our work has been to characterise the suitability of such materials for use on reflective silicon backplanes and to design and evaluate an AFLCoS microdisplay.
