Abstract :
A contrast media was injected into the left ventricle through a pig-tail catheter and imaged with X-ray angiography to observe pathological changes of the left ventricle. The side-hole design of the cardiac pigtail catheter affects scope visualization, and limited research related to this subject has been performed. In this study, a computational fluid dynamics method was applied to observe the distribution of Renografin-76 contrast media using five and eight sideholes cardiac catheters. The results showed that the eight sideholes catheter had a more rapid rate of contrast media delivery compared to the five sideholes catheter. In conclusion, a larger area of the left ventricle was observed through the eight sideholes catheter compared to the five sideholes catheter.
