Abstract :
Military Leaders are often called upon to make life or death decisions based off of imperfect information. Given new soldier technology, tools are being developed to aid small unit leaders in making better decisions on the battlefield. From improved UAVs providing accessible aerial reconnaissance to more accurate maps, any new or improved system that aids the decision making process has value. This project will develop an algorithm that provides a leader with a gradient overlay highlighting acceptable Support by Fire positions from which a unit can best engage an enemy force. We theorize that this system will allow junior leaders to bridge the experience gap and make superior decisions.
