Abstract
Many of the existing texture segmentation schemes rely on prior knowledge of some characteristic(s) in the image. In most cases the natural choice includes prior knowledge of both the spatial frequencies present and the corresponding tonal amplitudes for each texture. The algorithm proposed, with prior knowledge only of the existing frequencies, produces the normalized tonal amplitudes
