  • Abstract
New materials and cell construction improvements have been the key to advancement of the Ni-MH battery. Improved separators, although not active components, have an “active role” in contributing to better performance. In this paper we discuss the basic critical function of the separator as a “recombinant mat” and review the types of separators that are used in Ni-MH cells including: starved electrolyte separator; polyamide separator; and grafted polyolefin separator
