Who shall I share my knowledge with? A receiver perspective of knowledge sharing behavior

The current study examines the knowledge sharing phenomenon from a receiver perspective. The results of a scenario experimental study reveals that receivers´ characteristics play different roles under different situations (responsive knowledge sharing and proactive knowledge sharing). For the responsive knowledge sharing, receivers´ characteristics are not important factors affecting the sharer´s willingness to share. However, for proactive knowledge sharing, receivers´ professional ability and personal relationship with the sharer significantly affect the sharer´s decision. Practical implications are discussed at the end of the paper.
