Abstract
The design of the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) Booster beam position monitor system is described and test results for prototype units are presented. The monitor system must cover a wide range of beam intensity and bunch length for proton and heavy-ion acceleration. The detector is designed to maintain 0.1 mm local tolerance following a 300°C bakeout. The electronics are located in the tunnel, communicating via fiber optic links to avoid ground loops
