Abstract :
There is more than alignment involved to get the best performance from the kiln´s support rollers. Alignment is essential but it is only the first step to get the best mechanical performance from the support rollers. Most kilns in operation today do not have the advanced features of self aligning rollers or even self skewing rollers. This majority of kilns has stationary bases and bearings. This paper addresses these older designs. It starts where the kiln alignment leaves off and details how simple manual roller adjustments on a routine basis can extend the mechanical reliability of the kiln thereby optimizing the benefits of having a good alignment.
