Abstract
Device for electromagnetically pulsating the molten tin inside a cylindrical container with zirconium powder was developed. Electromagnetic coils are arranged around the side walls to generate pulsating magnetic field perpendicular to the side walls. The general concepts of the apparatus is to separate inclusions from molten tin. Electromagnetic field is imposed from outside the cylindrical container. Molten tin and inclusions are horizontally pulsated and pulsating force acts on the inclusions. Then, inclusions are conglomerated and risen to the surface easily, and inclusions are finally separated from the molten tin. This effect prevents the submerged entry nozzle from clogging, since inclusions flows without contacting with the inner wall of the submerged entry nozzle.
