This paper analyzed the relationship between industrial transfer and economic development in less developed regions. Industrial transfer has long been considered an effective approach to improving economic performance in less developed countries and regions. Based on the theory of comparative advantage, an overview of industrial transfer in China is described. Then, the effect of industrial transfer on less developed regions was analyzed applying the Cobb-Douglas production function. Finally, using the statistics from Jiangxi Province, the effect of industrial transfer on the employment, the technology, and the economic growth was demonstrated. In most cases, selective industrial transfer could give rise to economic development in less developed regions.
