  • Abstract
In this paper we consider a two-hop wireless MIMO relay network with a single source-destination pair and multiple relay terminals. The capacity in the MIMO relay network which operates in half-duplex mode is briefly discussed. We propose a novel amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying scheme by applying generalized singular value decomposition (GSVD) to improve the ergodic capacity under the assumption that the relay terminals have the perfect knowledge of channel state information (CSI). By using this relaying processing scheme, the MIMO relay network can be equivalent to the point-to-point parallel channels and the system noise can be additively white Gaussian. Numerical simulation results demonstrate that our relaying scheme based on GSVD obviously outperforms some conventional AF relaying schemes for the capacity of the MIMO relay network, while the ergodic capacities of the different AF-based relaying schemes exhibit logarithmic scaling in the number of relays.
