Abstract
The article considers enhancing the teaching of the subject ldquoMicroprocessor Systemsrdquo by a two-aspect study of stack memory. On one hand, the MPLAB development environment and the corresponding PICDEM PLUS2 development board of Microchip are used to examine the stack of the PIC18F452 microcontroller. On the other hand, the VHDL high level specification language and the WebPack ISE development environment of Xilinx are used to design a stack on the basis of a programmable logic device. The project is implemented and tested in the XC2-XL development board including XC2C256 CPLD from the CoolRunner-II family. A topic is chosen that illustrates part of multidirectional interdisciplinary connections.
