Abstract
Metal halide lamps have attracted much attention in recent years, because they offer excellent color properties and high efficacy. This paper concerns itself specially with the high frequency equivalent circuit model of metal halide lamps. A 70 W metal halide lamp is measured and its high frequency electrical model is successfully developed. Results show that the lamp impedance can be represented by a second order function of the lamp power, while the lamp voltage and lamp current are expressed as linear functions of the lamp power. The performance of the SPICE simulation and practical measurement results show good agreement
