Abstract
This paper presents a novel simulation-based planning method for the multiple pinning (MP) operation. The simulation employs a 3D femur model which is reconstructed from an actual patient´s CT images, and enables the user to make a surgery plan on the model. The developed planning simulation allows determining accurate position and orientation of the screws to be inserted. The simulation also allows a surgeon to examine the centerline of the femur neck, interesting cross section, and postoperative appearance.
