Abstract :
Stimulated Brillouin scattering is experimentally demonstrated in several polymer-coated chalcogenide microfibers. It is shown that the Brillouin frequency shift can be widely tuned with the wire diameter and that the polymer cladding substantially broadens the Brillouin line width, thus leading to enhanced nonlinear figure-of-merit.
