Abstract
A distributed data warehouse can be defined as a logically integrated collection of shared data that is physically distributed across the nodes of a computer network, such as the Internet. In the context of the Internet and collaborative E-commerce environments data warehouse refreshment requires a shift of emphasis from associating it purely with materialized view maintenance towards establishing a framework that supports refreshment in a federation of data warehouses. Adopting system and information quality as success variables we argue that what is required is inherently more complex than the materialized view maintenance problem and propose an open multi-agent architecture for the incremental maintenance of this kind of materialized view.
