A study on sustainable design strategies for rural housing in Yinchuan region

Based on a new rural ecological residential project in Jianfuqiao Village in Yinchuan region in China, whose architectural design was in charged of an academic group from Xi´an University of Architecture and Technology, this paper mainly studies on sustainable design strategy of rural housing. It chiefly introduces the background of the project and summarizes the character of local climates and the existed local housings conditions in Yinchuan region at first. Then it proposes the main sustainable design strategies applied in the project, such as controlling orientation and shape coefficient, utilizing building envelops and solar energy technology and so on. At last some further suggestions were put forward on sustainable rural housing design.
