Abstract :
The evolution of portable telecommunication devices are accredited to semiconductor down-scaling and high-integration of IC circuits and have enhanced user experience. However there is still some inefficiency faced by the Public Safety sector utilising portable communication due to lack of interoperability between different agencies. This paper simulates and compares the frequency response of active inductor circuits. A critical study and comparison of CMOS active inductor performance in tunable filter design was also carried out. A filter having wide tunable range and good RF performance can be achieved by implementing cross coupled and noise cancelling circuit design. This active inductor tunable filter could provide the interoperability solution for the future of Public safety radios.
