Abstract
This study investigates the particle-like behaviour of well-localised solitons in gas discharges. Experimental results show self-organized patterns in the form of solitary current filaments which give rise to current density and luminescence radiation density spots in the discharge plane. These observations are discussed in the framework of a drift-diffusion approximation with a set of ordinary differential equations which is in quantitative agreement with the experiment.
