Abstract
This paper presents a review of experimental and theoretical results concerning the generation and dynamics of simple and multiple complex space charge structures in low-temperature plasma. The results emphasize the important role of the electron-neutral impact excitation and ionizations in these phenomena. Related strongly nonlinear effects, like the negative differential resistance, hysteresis, or transition to chaos through different scenarios are analyzed. Possible applications of such plasma phenomena are discussed.
