Abstract :
The shape of the precipitation particle is not only an important issue of the precipitation´s study, but also the basis of precipitation recognition. In order to obtain the shape information of different precipitation particle, this article simply introduced the basic principle of optical image measurement, and the high-speed linear CCD measurement of precipitation. The image of a rainfall particle is preprocessed in the article, which is convenient to characteristics extracted of the particle. Three methods to extract characteristics of raindrops are analyzed emphatically. Results show that, the methods can obtain the scale of raindrops, axial ratio, and other basic geometry. Moment and Fourier descriptors are applied to the description of precipitation particle shape as well, which provide a basis to the shape recognition of precipitation, and have an important application value to the model of precipitation recognition.
