Abstract
This paper presents an optimization approach, harmony search algorithm (HS), to solve the economic dispatch (ED) problem in the power system integrating wind energy conversion system (WECS). Three optimization techniques, genetic algorithm (GA), interior point methods (ITP) and HS are applied to solve ED when system connecting and disconnecting to WECS. The results show that HS can give the better solution than the others. In the comparison with GA, HS and ITP, HS is better than GA by 3.54% and ITP by 1.4%. Moreover total cost reduction when the system connected to WECS computed by HS is reduced to 4.97 % per day.
