Abstract :
Distributed generation has become a new research focus in power system worldwide. Non-grid-connected wind power, as a special kind of distributed generation, develops along environmental sustainable development and technological advancement. Non-grid-connected wind power system will provide a road to diversification of wind power utilization. This article analyzes how the wind power is utilized in less developed areas, and combines the conditions for development and application of non-grid-connected wind power. The opinion is then put forward for less developed areas with good wind force (annual average wind velocity above 4 meters per minute, none hurricane possibility). These areas have no access to power grid with insufficient electricity supply, diseconomy to do grid extension, and so on. These areas are suitable for non-grid-connected wind power application. Developing non-grid-connected wind power in less developed areas will cultivate a new economic growth and benefit environments.
