Abstract
This paper examines the feasibility of importing a medical information service based on mobile phones, called ldquoIn Touchrdquo to Mexico City. There should be interest in introducing such technology to Mexico because it may improve access to health care services, especially for those living in rural areas. At present public health services are uneven and can be of poor quality. Cost reduction and optimization of resources in delivering outpatient medical care is of interest to both users and to the government. This analysis was done through a business plan, which unveiled the features that make In Touch a useful service to health care for people based on their needs, while the technological aspects were analyzed for Mexico to develop such a project. Organizational and financial aspects necessary to develop a company that is able to offer this service at this early stage. This research concludes with examples of how medical physiological data (ECG, EEG, PACS, etc.) can be collected remotely further improving the effectiveness of such systems.
