Abstract :
More emphasis should be placed on the history of computing in university curricula. The area of programming languages is no exception and has lots of history to study. This paper discusses the approach followed to study the history of programming languages in the Computer Engineering Program at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez. The proceedings for History of Programming Languages (HOPL) Conferences are used as reference for a term paper. This paper describes the parts of the term paper, some of the comments given by students, future changes to the methodology and some observations in general about teaching history of programming languages.
