Abstract
A call admission control (CAC) scheme for downlink multimedia services in a WCDMA system is proposed. Admission control based on instantaneous measurements may cause capacity loss and quality of service (QoS) degradation because of abrupt fluctuations of the power level at the base station (BS). Instead, both the average power level of real-time circuit services and the average queue size of non-real-time packet services are considered in our scheme. The performance of the proposed admission control scheme is investigated by simulation results in terms of, e.g., blocking probability, outage probability, average throughput, and average queue size.
