Abstract :
An approach, which is based on using of spontaneous propagation process of overvoltage through the chain of threshold elements, is described. The peculiarities of initiating and dynamics of commutating processes in cases of uniform and nonuniform distributions of external circuit voltage through the chain of threshold elements are examined. The ability of using of this approach to realize commutators based on different types of threshold elements is investigated. The alternatives of commutators implemented as a chain of multigap controlled switches, which are used in high voltage and high current pulses generators, are given.
