Abstract
This paper investigated in detail the solving magnetohydrodynamics equations, development of the discharge channel in subnanosecond regime after breakdown initiation and its electrical property such as time-dependent conductance and inductance of the gap have been derived for different electrode geometries and gas pressures. The voltage rise time at the load in a pulse forming system is simulated using the electrical characteristics of the switch and compared with the measured waveshapes to validate the derived electrical model. The simulation results are in good accordance with the experimental measurements.
