Abstract :
Settlement of municipal solid waste landfill lasts a very long period of time, and it is of great importance to determine or predict the settlement process in order to reasonably design waste filling art and choose good prevention methods to ensure the safety of associated facilities built on the top of the landfill. In this paper, we deeply study the models for the settlement process. First, mathematical studies on traditional exponent model and Logistic model are conducted, and their deficiencies are revealed. Second, a new settlement model based on Weibull function is proposed to describe the total settlement process of municipal solid waste landfill, which can effectively overcome the deficiencies of the two traditional models. Both the settlement rate and the settlement acceleration of the new proposed model fit well with the theory mechanic analysis. Finally, the accuracy and applicability of the presented model are proved by investigated settlements.
