Abstract :
A key challenge for civil usage of UAVs is reliable and continuous communication between an operator and the UAVs. In previous works we have developed and investigated communication-aware mobility strategies which consider operational goals but also communication performance. In this work we present an experimental performance evaluation of our Role-Based Connectivity Management using a multi-UAV testbed. Results show that our approach allows the dynamic use of Relay-UAVs to extend the operational range and enables reliable communication.
