  • Abstract
There is an increasing concern that the open GNSS services are highly vulnerable to malicious and accidental denial of service events by low power jammers and location “spoofers” (meaconing). AJAMS (Anti Jamming and Meaconing System) is a new system concept, developed by Thales, built on the back of the services provided by Galileo, which requires no change to the existing Galileo signals or system and minimal change to receivers. AJAMS can provide a significant improvement in the resilience of the service available to non-PRS receivers. This paper shows the architecture of the proposed AJAMS system, explaining in detail why it is secure, and how it can significantly mitigate the risk of jamming and meaconing in a cost effective manner. The paper will further explain how the technology can be used to develop authentication services, based on securely verifiable location claims.
