Abstract :
A brushless, doubly-fed stand-alone generator system can have advantages over both conventional as well as power converter-based approaches. Electrical generator systems are highly nonlinear in nature. The available models are usually linearized and the system parameters vary with operation, making these systems an ideal choice for fuzzy control. This paper discusses the development of a fuzzy controller for terminal quantity regulation of the doubly-fed generator system. A fuzzy algorithm which uses triangular membership functions, max-min implication and height defuzzification is used in designing the controller. Results of dynamic studies using both simulations and laboratory experiments are presented. It is shown that the proposed fuzzy controller results in satisfactory performance; and the results compare favorably with those of conventional systems
