Abstract :
Discusses how to maintain the semantic integrity of corporate data viewed as an interconnected whole or totality within Bellcore´s proposed Operations Systems Computing Architecture for loosely coupled distributed operations systems. In this architecture, corporate data are distributed among many operations systems housed by a variety of database management systems. Frequently the operations performed on these data span commit umbrellas. The problem is then to preserve the semantic integrity of the totality of corporate data in an environment where the data are partitioned among various DBMS technologies, stewarded by many operations systems in various computing environments, and acted upon by transactions that span commit umbrellas. Methods to preserve semantic integrity in this context are described for a distributed requester-server processing model
