Abstract :
An enhanced cell reselection mechanism in 3G/LTE heterogeneous system is proposed based on R-criterion of current cell reselection protocol, in order to prevent overload and guarantee QoS of the network. To evaluate the performance of the proposed mechanism, a 2-dimensional Markov process model based network analysis model is proposed to describe network behavior and obtain performance criteria. Numerical results and analysis indicate that with an optimal reselection intensity parameter, the proposed cell reselection mechanism can decrease overload probability and increase average QoS for LTE cell. Since this mechanism is based on existing criterion in 3GPP protocol, it can be applied in real heterogeneous system. Also, the methodology of the network analysis model can be utilized for other radio resource management problems.
