Abstract
Non-Foster components, negative inductors and positive capacitors, are considered for coupling and matching in dipole arrays. The goal is multi-octave scan element pattern performance. The test bed is a finite planar array with PWS moment method simulation. Non-Foster matching of each dipole improves performance, but Non-Foster coupling of contiguous collinear dipoles gives excellent results; the coupling promotes current continuity at low frequencies, and the array approaches the ideal current sheet of Wheeler.
