Abstract :
This paper describes a single current sensor control technique for induction motors that uses only a single DC-link current sensing resistor to obtain the information of three line currents. The principal motivation is to reduce the cost, and improve the reliability of a drive system. However, in certain conditions, the measurement is distorted due to the too narrow current pulse width in the shunt resistor. To solve this problem, a newly-created pulse width modulation strategy is developed and a dedicated observer is applied. The realization of single current sensor control technique is based on the ADMCF341, an embedded DSP with motor control peripherals and special ADC system. Test results are presented.
