  • Abstract
Based on the renewable sources energy, this paper proposes a modified tourism ecological footprint (TEF) model by using energy theory and method to assess the environmental capacity of regional tourism in certain area, which is named as tourism energy ecological footprint (TEEF) model. Then it takes Beijing suburbs as an example and adopts the evaluation method and indexes system of the TEEF model in the rural tourism environmental capacity research, calculating and analyzing the indexes of average rural tourism energy ecological footprint, capacity and deficit of every person in the ten counties in 2008. Further, combining the methods of Boston matrix and GIS, it explores the spatial variance laws and features of the rural tourism environmental capacity in Beijing suburbs and then explains the main influential factors such as social economic development level, physical geography, traffic location, tourism resources, local policy and development time etc.
