Title :
Antenna and system design with Ansoft
Author :

Abstract :
Summary form only given. This short course will provide a broad understanding of Ansoft´s software products for the design, analysis and optimization of antennas, phased array antennas and antenna systems. No prior use of Ansoft´s products is required. The course will begin with an overview of HFSS™ for the design of arbitrary 3D antenna elements including model entry and efficient use of boundary conditions and absorbing boundary elements. Following this, Ansoft designer will be highlighted for its planar EM capability with respect to planar antenna structures. This will include infinite patch arrays, parameterized patches, and the seamless integration of these structures into system and circuit level analysis. It will be shown how Ansoft designer not only allows for the generation of field plots and related data, but also allows the user to do other frequency and time domain based analyses. Additional topics will include small and large scale arrays, feed networks and frequency selective surfaces. The course will conclude with application examples of RF/microwave circuit and system designs of phased array antenna systems.
