Abstract
This work presents a new method for increasing the data rate of an optical disc system. The system uses an electro-optic beam scanner to raster scan the disc, potentially allowing increased data rates during writing as well as reading. In particular, the paper discusses the required modifications to the tracking system, and proposes a new method for generating the tracking error signal. This method does not require synchronization with the driving signal, and is realizable using the available hardware.
