Abstract
The main purpose of TDM is to reduce vehicles used in the road traffic system, and as the measures of TDM in the step of transport moods, carpool has received more and more attention. This paper is to take Nanjing as the example and to analyze the application requirements, benefits, and practicable methods of carpooling. Since carpooling is beneficial to vehicle owners, hitchhikers and the society, we should give it more support in regulation, finance and technology, making it more technologically and operationally practical, so as to effectively inhibit urban traffic demand.
