Abstract
A rigorous determination is made of the equivalent circuits of longitudinal strips of finite width on the air-dielectric interface of an inset dielectric guide (IDG). These are used to design an array of dipoles forming a longitudinally polarized linear antenna that is theoretically consistent with the properties of microstrip-loaded IDG. It is demonstrated that the longitudinal strip can be successfully analyzed using the Galerkin method, yielding both the circuit parameters and the radiation characteristics essential for the accurate synthesis of antenna arrays.<>
