Abstract :
Multi domain networks can be used in several scenarios including military and enterprize networks. In such networks each domain might be under different administrations, which might not want to share all information among them regarding their domain configurations. In such multi domain networks, one major challenge is the support for mobility. We propose a new multi domain mobility (MDM) system that will facilitate mobility over multi domain wired and wireless networks, in various scenarios, such as battlefields and enterprize ones. In MDM, user identifiers (ID) are separated from network addresses, such as IP addresses, phone numbers, or other type of addresses. MDM uses node IDs to locate the nodes and network addresses as point of attachment of the nodes in the network. MDM uses a flexible naming structure implemented over distributed servers. MDM is scalable and policy based. We discuss the MDM scalability other advantages compared to existing mobility solutions.
