Abstract :
As a state-of-the-art image compression algorithm, SPIHT has wider applications in the compression of multi-spectral images. A typical example is an improvement to SPIHT was used to compress multi-spectral images. Although this improvement decreases the requirement for space and time, it still contains a great deal of redundant search, greatly reducing encoding speed. In order to solve this problem, the authors discovered a fast search algorithm that only requires scanning the wavelet coefficient matrix once to decide the significance of all D(i, j) and L(i, j) needed during the execution of SPIHT, therefore it can be applied to the improvement of SPIHT to obtain a fast SPIHT for multi-spectral image compression.
