Abstract :
In this paper, a new kind of microstrip - fed folded planar monopole handset antennas is proposed. The effect of the structural parameters on the impedance and radiation characteristics of the antenna is analyzed by using FDTD method. The results of FDTD are essentially agreement with experimental results. The proposed antenna has properties of simple structure, broadband, and almost omnidirectional radiation within operating bands. This kind of folded planar monopole handset antenna provides a new choice for the third generation mobile communication system.
