Abstract
We investigate the spectral properties of an active integrated Mach-Zehnder Interferometer (MZI) with Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (SOA) inserted in its arms and provided with an external feedback loop. The whole system is described in the frame of an original extended Scattering Matrix Formalism including internal sources, that takes into account the saturation of each active medium under the influence of both signal and Amplified Spontaneous Emission.
