Abstract
In China, with the ever-increasing completeness of market economic system and the enhancement of the sense of self-realization for the college teachers in China, the turnover rate of college teachers is greater and greater. For most of the existing literatures in China, there is a popular view that college teachers turnover rate negatively influences college performance which has not received enough empirical tests. This paper tries to empirically test the relationship between college teachers turnover rate and college performance in China and empirically finds that there is an inversed U-shaped curve relationship between the two variables. Specifically speaking, for Chinese colleges, when the college teachers turnover rate is lower than 3.3%, college teachers turnover has positive effect on college performance, while when the college teachers turnover rate is higher than 3.3%, there is a negative relationship between the two variables. The empirical result shows that a reasonable college teachers turnover is helpful to the construction of Chinese colleges.
