Abstract :
The use of state-of-the-art real-time techniques in manufacturing planning and control is still rare. This paper presents some findings from adapting real-time operating systems scheduling theory to production planning and control. It concludes with the introduction of server mechanisms to the aperiodic scheduling of manufacturing systems with the novel feature of including changeover time costs.
