Abstract :
The voltage-time characteristics of SF/sub 6/-N/sub 2/ mixtures with different mixture ratios as well as pure SF/sub 6/ were investigated for different electrode arrangements. Two successive impulses were applied with 400-ns pulse width each and 400-ns time interval. The influence of the prestress caused by the first impulse on the voltage-time characteristic was studied. Optical investigations of the discharge development were performed with a gated image intensifier system with an exposure time of 1 ns and a spatial resolution of 10 lp/mm.<>
